LucyFair - Master degree project
(character design + animation + 3d printing)
Lucy Fair is a modern version of the mythological Cerberus, the guardian of hell.
Her/his face is something between that of a woman and that of a boy.
She combines bdsm gadgets, collars
and spikes; an aggressive bullterrier breed with the innocence of a child's face
and the pastel colours of instagram filters. He's a bit of flesh, a bit of plastic. His circle is sins of the flesh, homosexuality
and lust.
Her/his movements are delicate, at times barely perceptible, yet unsettling. Clumsily human but also not quite mechanical, robotic. Mimicry based on the human, but not entirely obvious, readable, imperfect.
This is the aesthetic of kitsch culture and the internet. Kitsch is a characteristic means of expression for sexual minorities. It is both strong and striking, but
and light, playful. Pink and glitter is used to oppose aggression. It is subversive. It turns sin into a joke and innocent fun.
